SCHOLARSHIP NOMINATION

We don’t just want to inspire students, we want to equip them.

At 2Words Character Development, we develop and enable students to become all-star leaders on and off the field.

When the Friday night lights shut off and students hang up their jerseys, we want them to be defined by their character, not by the points on the scoreboard. It’s crucial to be exposed to tools, practices, and foundational principles to build outstanding character.

The Letterman to Leadership Scholarship is an online tournament where graduating student athletes will each win a $1,000 scholarship towards their college of choice, and named the Texas Student Athlete of the Year, powered by 2Words Character Development.

We want to recognize and encourage the kind of young women and men that will become the next generation of leaders. With this scholarship, we hope to remove barriers to success.

NOMINEE QUALIFICATIONS

Great leaders don’t boast about their influence and advantages, they use them to benefit others. This scholarship is for students who exemplify strong character, humility, and care for their community.

We’re looking for student athletes who…

• Use their influence to benefit others.
• Lift up and motivate others to recognize their strengths and become leaders themselves.
• Invest in improving their school and community.
• Aren’t afraid to admit their weaknesses and learn from their mistakes.
• Exemplify excellent dedication to their education and have a hunger for learning.
• Are graduating seniors at a UIL 2A-6A classification Texas high school.

HOW IT WORKS

NOMINATE > SHARE > VOTE

• Athletic Director/Coordinator nominates two qualified athletes (one female & one male) from their respective school to be entered into the online tournaments.
• Once all names are submitted, 2Words will send a public voting link to the athletic directors and coordinators.
  • Voting takes place through a 3rd party website: SurveyHero
  • Please make sure that your district IT department will allow access to this site the week of voting
• Nominees and athletic departments are encouraged to share the link with their network and the public will vote from January 29, 2024 – February 2, 2024
• The tournament consists of one, 1 week voting window. The student with the most votes at the end of the tournament will be awarded:
  • The 2024 Texas Student Athlete of the Year Award, powered by 2Words Character Development
  • The $1,000 Letterman to Leader Scholarship
  • 18 weeks of Character Development Curriculum from 2Words Character Development for their school to use in the 2024 Spring Semester, or a free on-site visit for our current curriculum partners.

Nomination and Voting Schedule:

• Nominee Submission Deadline – Friday, January 26th at 3pm
• Voting (All Nominees) – January 29, 2024 – February 2, 2024
• Winners will be announced on Monday, February 5th

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO

• The Athletic Director or school representative will submit the names of two qualified student athletes from their school (one male & one female) by clicking the button below.
• Deadline to submit nominees: Friday, January 26, 2024 at 3pm
