WHY SERVANT LEADERSHIP?

Sports is life and leadership at light speed. The student-athletes in your athletic program will be the leaders of tomorrow. Every day, they are learning more about how to lead, and coaches have a huge influence on what they learn.

Servant leadership is leading for the good of others, rather than the good of self. In other words, servant leaders care more about helping their followers succeed than they do about finding their own personal success. In the process of helping others succeed, the leaders themselves (and the organizations they represent) find success, too.

We believe that teaching tomorrow’s leaders how to be servant leaders today will benefit them far beyond the game.

LEAD SUMMITS

LEAD uses dynamic speakers, fun competition, and timeless principles to equip student-athletes with practical tools to lead on their team, campus, and in their community. Athletes will be encouraged and equipped through an all-day, interactive conference. By the end, students and coaches will develop a game plan for making an impact in their community.

LEAD events can integrate into an existing leadership event or be a turn-key solution (you provide the students, and we’ll do the rest). For example, we integrated into existing events at Forney ISD and Northside ISD, while Northeast ISD and Mansfield ISD brought us in to host turn-key events for their districts.

Every event includes dynamic speakers, an MC, a game plan for the day, and monthly lessons for the following school year. Branded materials are also available, such as LEAD notebooks, pens, lanyards with VIP name tags, and more!

MONTHLY FOLLOW-UP CURRICULUM

As part of the LEAD experience, coaches receive a 10-month follow-up curriculum for athletes and coaches to use on a monthly basis throughout the next school year. This includes ten 10-12 minute video lessons, which are complemented by workbooks that dive deep into the monthly topic.

The monthly LEAD Curriculum is designed to help student-athletes retain what they learned during the LEAD event, as well as to challenge them to take their servant leadership experience even further.

The event motivates and challenges students with the big ideas of servant leadership, and the monthly curriculum teaches them the nitty-gritty details of how to make an impact in their school or community. Both aspects will help these young leaders find success beyond the game.

Sacrifice Required

There are a lot of things, when it comes to finding success in the game of life, that are optional. Whatever you might find on that exhaustive list, the one thing you will not find is sacrifice. Sacrifice is required for reaching your goals as an individual and as a team. As challenging as this concept is, it is worth every painful moment. When you learn how to use sacrifice to your advantage, you unlock a door to success that few people are ever willing to walk through. The reality of sports and of the game of life, however, is that if you don’t sacrifice for your goals, then you will sacrifice your goals.

Character vs. Talent

To maximize the impact you can have on the world, yourself and your team, It’s not complicated; it’s as simple as two words: character vs. talent.

Too often we’re disproportionately focused on talent over character. We view talent as the way to make it. We strive to develop our talent; maximize our skill; because we think it’s the thing that will drive us to succeed in life. All the while it’s easy to neglect character.

How many division one athletes do you know who are untalented? You see, at a certain level, talent levels out. To maximize your talent, you have to must maximize your character. The strength of your character will determine the success of your talents.

Two Chairs

Conflict is guaranteed, but our response to conflict is not. We choose how we respond when someone wrongs us or when reality isn’t meshing with our expectations. It’s important to understand conflict resolution and practice it well because it limits the damage caused to our relationships and helps us move on together. Conflict resolution teaches us when to respond, what to respond with, and how to respond.

We choose when, what with, and how we respond to conflict. Let’s be the generation that is overly generous with our forgiveness. Let’s learn to resolve conflict well, so it doesn’t cause further damage to our relationships.
